Website updated and running Wordpress

I have finally managed to find the time to update my website and this time it is a major re-build. I decided to migrate the whole website into Wordpress to make updates easier in the future and to start blogging on a regular basis (or at least try to!).

As you can see the design has not changed a huge amount, but I have tried to clean-up the code and add some extra features, such as:

  • sIFR for more interesting typography
  • some Scriptaculous for smooth scrolling through the portfolio entries
  • recent projects on the homepage
  • about page

The re-build was a great way to get a grip on Wordpress customisation and to see what is possible. The basic set-up was surprisingly quick and smooth. I had to dig into the PHP a little to change the layout and sidebar, but luckily there is a huge amount of resources on the web for Wordpress.

In conclusion, I have been very impressed with Wordpress and recommend it to anyone who wants a simple CMS, even if you don’t use the blog.
